Great work. Kris explained what he would do clearly and provided a competitive quote for the eork. He was able to start quickly and work days that accommodated my schedule and needs. I love the finished result and he explained how to care for it. Great workmanship - would hire him again.

Jozsef’s work ethic is impressive; arriving early and clearly takes pride in his work as he ploughs through to complete in one day. Amazing! I now have a beautiful looking living room floor. I would definitely recommend Jozsef and will be asking him to do more jobs for me and recommend him to family and friends. ????

We highly recommend this outstanding professional who went above and beyond to help us install carpet in four rooms and a kitchen. The service we received was nothing short of exceptional. From the very beginning, his attention to detail was impeccable, ensuring that every aspect of the carpet installation was perfect.

What is the difference between stone and concrete pavers?

Choosing between stone and concrete pavers depends on your budget, aesthetic preferences, and project requirements:

  • Price: Top-quality concrete pavers can match the price of stone, but concrete typically offers more affordable options.
  • Installation: Both materials require a similar installation time, though the process may vary slightly based on the complexity of your design.
  • Versatility: Concrete pavers offer a broader range of colours and shapes, allowing for more customization in your paving design.
  • Appearance: Stone pavers provide a natural, unique look with variations in colour and texture, while concrete pavers are more uniform but can be designed to mimic the appearance of natural stone.

Do concrete or stone pavers last longer?

Concrete Pavers: Concrete pavers are known for their versatility and affordability, but they generally have a shorter lifespan compared to stone. Typically, a well-installed concrete paver area can last around 10 years before it may start to show signs of ageing such as brittleness, cracking, and fading. The durability of concrete pavers can be influenced by several factors, including the quality of the concrete mix, the environment they’re installed in, and how well they are maintained. In climates with severe freeze-thaw cycles, concrete pavers are susceptible to cracking and splitting as they absorb water that expands when frozen.

installed and maintained correctly. Made from natural materials that have already withstood millions of years of environmental exposure, stone pavers can continue to endure for as long as they are properly cared for: this involves cleaning the stone and removing any moss. Their natural durability makes them less prone to fading and wear from weather elements. Stones like granite, limestone, and sandstone are particularly known for their longevity and resistance to harsh weather conditions.

How do I know if the job has been done well?

A well-executed paving job should feature:

  • Uniform placement without significant gaps.
  • An even surface, accounting for any intentional unevenness with natural stone.
  • No discoloration or cracks, indicating quality materials and installation.

At Rated People, tradespeople are reviewed by customers, providing insights into their work quality. Additionally, our guide for hiring stonemasons offers advice on ensuring your paving project meets your expectations.

Other stone and concrete paving FAQs

Do concrete pavers get very hot?

Concrete pavers can absorb heat and become quite warm in direct sunlight, more so with darker colours.

What is the cheapest option to pave a driveway?

Generally, concrete pavers are the most budget-friendly option for paving a driveway, especially when considering large areas.

Do concrete pavers get slippery when wet?

Concrete pavers can become slippery when wet, particularly if they have a smooth finish. Textured or treated pavers offer better slip resistance.

Initially I was only going to have Decking done in my garden. After Andrew came and saw my garden he gave me a different idea and provided with me a scatch of paving and deck to transform my garden into some thing different. After he has done this it looks so nice. He transformed my garden completely. He is a very hard working gentleman. Very reasonable with price and very sincere perfect and honest. While he was working I decided to have fencing done as well. Andrew has become like a family member to us. I will recommend Andrew very srongly to everybody without any hesitation
